Great Holiday Indulgences
The holidays are here and for many of us that means loads of celebrating, fun and indulging. It is good to keep your health goals in mind when you are around this abundance of food and drink. Whether you are throwing a party or going to one, it is easy to stay healthy. When going to an event, make sure you drink plenty of water in order to stay hydrated in case you have a little too much fun and a little too much to drink. To help yourself from overeating those amazing and delicious hor d'oeuvres, eat an apple, couple of carrots or other healthy food that will slightly fill you up prior to the big event. Another idea is to go for a brief walk before the party, moving and exercise increases metabolism and will naturally make you feel fuller. It is good to arrive to a party on a satisfied stomach, and make sure not to overeat just because you are "starving". If you are going to a party you can also ask the hostess if you can bring a dish. This way you can bring something healthy and one that you know what the ingredients are. This is also a way that you can help out the host by giving him or her less work to do. If you get to be the person who it throwing the event make sure you create some healthy options for your guests. Include some easy to prepare foods such as fresh cut vegetables, black olives or steamed artichokes. Enjoy this season's festivities and make sure to have a happy & healthy holiday!
